Moving Time
So, I have some news my fellow bloggers/blog readers. I have been offered a job in Swindon and will be moving at the end of December. Absolutely awful time of year to move but you've got to take these opportunities when they're offered to you!
This is the first time I have moved away from Plymouth, my home city. And it's pretty scary! At the moment the excitement outweighs the anxiety, but I'm going to do several mini posts to document my mental state as we get closer to moving day...

I was offered the job on Friday and I've had the weekend to be in denial. But today is the day I handed in my notice. I work hard and I like to think I'm good at my job, so they seemed genuinely sad at the prospect of me leaving, even if they weren't surprised. I will be sad to go but I was getting too comfortable there and I'm the kind of person that needs to be constantly challenged. They've accepted my notice and my last working day will be the 19th December, with a start date in my new role of the 5th January. That gives me two weeks to move my life to Swindon. Shouldn't be too hard right? Main concerns are...

I was offered the job on Friday and I've had the weekend to be in denial. But today is the day I handed in my notice. They've accepted my notice and my last working day will be the 19th December, with a start date in my new role of the 5th January. That gives me two weeks to move my life to Swindon. Shouldn't be too hard right? Main concerns are...
- Leaving my Mum
- Leaving my friends
- Leaving my Grandparents
- Moving and hating my job
- Moving and being poor
- Moving and having weird housemates
- Moving and having weird work colleagues
- Moving and being lonely
These are mundane and common worries, but they're happening in my head on repeat! I know it will be fine once I'm there, but I am scared all the same. I feel a bit in limbo at the moment as I know I have to pack up my things and leave my flat (that I only recently moved in to), but I also have a lot to do before then - including Christmas! I will not let the stress of moving ruin my favourite time of year!
To do:
- Find somewhere to live
- Handover everything at work
- Buy new clothes / stationary for job (essential)
- Try not to have a breakdown
- Pack
- Throw some things away
- Realise that I'm going to be renting a room and won't have a two bedroom flat to myself, so throw some more things away
- Realise that I have a silly amount of clothes and attempt to throw some of those away
- Say goodbye to everyone
- Oh, and do some bloody christmas shopping already!
I'd like to hear from some of you about the first time you moved away from home/your home town. How did you feel? What advice would you offer someone who is moving? What did you wish you knew at the time?
Basically, if you could all help me to get through this with minimal catastrophes that would be grand.
Over and out
