Inspiration
Inspiration can come from the strangest of places, don't you think? Today I typed 'piano concert' into YouTube and chose one of the first links (Yuja Wang_Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1). I'll link it below:
Go watch, it's magical
I could listen to the piano all day. It's such a beautiful instrument. I'm in the process of saving for a keyboard (a good one) as I'd love to take it up again. I'll keep you posted on that.
A little thought
Make sure that your work doesn't take over everything. It's so important to have passions, interests and hobbies outside of your day to day working routine. If you're doing something as a career that is your passion, then good on you, but the majority of us are in jobs that we may enjoy at times but mostly they just pay the bills (and then some if you're really lucky). So, if you're not one of those people who have an extraordinary talent (like that girl playing the piano) then make sure you take the time to learn a musical instrument, write a blog, read a book, run a marathon etc. in your own time and for your own enjoyment. Have a goal that isn't work related. I've blogged before about finding balance and I think this may be a good place to start.
Because money isn't everything; it brings temporary happiness that cannot be sustained.
And on that note, here is the second instalment of 'Alice's Adventure: Pre-Swindon':
Sunday 30th November 2014
A few things have happened since my last blog post. I have found somewhere to live in a place called Oakhurst in Swindon which is a massive relief. I did my research and after hours of trawling through gumtree, spareroom.com and rightmove I finally found somewhere - phew! Thank you to everyone who helped me out - it must have been boring listening to my 'pros & cons' list for every single property available in Swindon!
I've also decided to move back in with my Mum for December to save some money and get myself organised before I leave. I've moved a lot over the past few years and I'll tell you something I've learnt - I HATE PACKING. Actually hate it. It's very unsettling having everything in boxes and bags! I'm sick of the sight of all my belongings.
I also have 11 days left at work. Which is a tad scary. I think it's because once I finish my current job I'll have too much time to worry about what to expect in my new job! Whilst at the moment I'm nicely distracted.
So that's a little update. I am really grateful to everyone for their support! I'm finally starting to feel excited about starting my new adventure. I'm also feeling surprisingly organised (so far)!
It's exciting not knowing what's around the corner. November has been a busy old month! I think it's so important to be challenged and do things that scare you and take you out of your comfort zone. People worry too much about having the perfect CV and employment history, but if you really aren't happy in your job then it's important to do something about it. I read an article the other day that stated that you have to move jobs at least 5 times before you can find out what you excel at and what you enjoy. And I think there's an element of truth in that. To find out what you like - and what you don't like - you need to experience a range of different situations and environments. Perhaps you disagree, but I'm putting that theory to the test!
Thank you for reading everyone.
I'll write again soon,
